BREAKING: Kathleen has troubled past in St. Albans

Some time ago I spoke to a detective familiar with Maura's disappearance who suggested that Kathleen, Maura's older sister, had spent some time in prison. I was unable to confirm this until today. It does appear that Kathleen spent some time behind bars in the state of Vermont, though I'm still tracking down the nature of the crime.

The arrest notes an address in St. Albans, Vermont.

I have been unable to reach Kathleen (who is also registered under the name Katherline) for comment.

In a strange twist, St. Albans happens to be the town where Brianna Maitland worked as a waitress before she disappeared a month after Maura.

    1. You are brave !!!!!! Congratulations....but I don't understand the refusal to clear up a few facts that will not in any way harm this case such clarifying why Mr. Murray was there. Perhaps they think is not anyone's business...and who can't really argue with that? The problem is that I think a book about this case is a good thing...

  4. Could this have anything to do with the phone call Maura received while at work that night? Maybe she was upset her sister was going to prison.

  5. Wow. This case has so many secrets and possibilities. I'm more confused now than I was when I first saw the ID show. The family knows way more than is being said. Good find Mr. Renner!

  7. Certainty Brianna Maitland had ties to St Albans, as many Vermonters living in rural North Central Vermont conduct much of their business there BUT, Maitland DID NOT disappear from St Albans!!! She was working at an inn in Montgomery, a very rural town at least 30 miles east on back roads.

Maitland is a pretty cut and dry case of being caught up with the wrong people, those involved in the cross border drug trade. No body but it was either somebody local she had a conflict with, the drug dealers or a combination of the 2. Cops are pretty sure of that, local, state and federal.

I don't see how it could relate to Maura. Ok maybe she was going to meet up with her sister in the Stowe area (if she was not in jail at the time) but thats about all I would read into it.

  8. Wow. I am forgetting, is this the sister that Maura was supposed to have spoken to on the phone that night when she was so upset? It'll be interesting to see what the convictions were.

  9. Sometimes I think.. maybe the phone call Maura received at work..was Kathleen telling her about something that happened in Vermont recently..and how she will be 'caught' or going to jail soon..but maybe Maura was traveling up that area the following few days to try to straighten something out.. i don't know...it would be great if we knew what dates she was in jail, and the reason...drug related?!

  10. She had an arrest in 11/2005. It's in the Hanover police log from back then - she was arrested at 4;30pm on that day (a Sunday) for domestic assault and drunkenness.

  11. James,

Can you tell us any more about her record? For what was she arrested? Was she imprisoned or jailed? When and for how long did she do time? I am very curious about this but unfortunately cannot find anything else about it! Please let us know what you can.

    Thanks!

  12. After I laid out all of the "facts" of Maura's case to my boyfriend, he was pretty convinced that it had something to do with drugs (that had never crossed my mind!). People have speculated about Maura having an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. I'm wondering if there is any evidence of drug use.

Just think about it. Maura had connections to the area, where there is some drug violence (as evident by the Brianna Maitland case). Maybe she was trying to get more than just alcohol for her getaway and something went wrong.

I'm not saying this to make her sound like a "bad" person. I'm just throwing ideas out there in hopes of finding her.

    1. Would Maura have to be drug tested as a part of her clinicals while working at a hospital?

  13. Maybe Kathleen was supplying Maura with drugs for her to sell on campus. Maybe Kathleen had called to say she had given Maura's name up to the police or somebody in the drug trade who was threatening Maura. This explains the 'case' discussed in court when Fred tried to get the records. The judge held back the info to protect a case related to drugs, burglary, etc. Maybe Fred was involved in the drug business as well as
    other family members?
