Best Photo from Recent Marathons ***UPDATED***

A while back I suggested it might be worth the time for some readers to check through online photographs of recent marathons. My thought was that it Maura is still alive, she would still be running. A few people sent in some interesting photographs but this is the best possibility so far.

Check out the woman in red.

Now, I'm guessing it's not her. But the resemblance is interesting. It would be great if we could rule this one out. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the link to the race, Toronto Women's Half Marathon.

That was fast. Thanks for the help. The runner has been ID'd and it is not her.

  1. Good spot whoever came up with this. Hard to say but I don't see the resemblance.

Perhaps the way to rule her out is to check the results of the Toronto half-marathon. If she is in Canada, she had to establish citizenship or get a work visa. Presumably the latter has been checked out by authorities. Thus, I'd look for Maura _______ in the results.

She would not need to establish citizenship or get a work visa if she were in Canada 'illegally' and was with someone wealthy enough for her to not need to work. The only issue would be health care, for which insurance could be bought, but some sort of identity would have to be 'established' for it.

  2. I just checked for first names = Maura and could not find any. Also checked for Kate and could not find any. No Julie Murray or Julie Thompson either.

  3. Glad you are getting some stretching in today James.

  4. It doesn't look like her (I suppose plastic surgery is possible and could help her hide, but expensive if you're "on the run" in the fugitive sense, as would be having a number and a color that stands out.)

I could see her "going bandit" in a very high-profile marathon (including Boston, as no one could have anticipated what happened) as she would be harder to find in photos.

A Maureen Murray was listed in the results page for events that photo could have been taken of (April 2013). But regardless, if she has been ID'd it doesn't matter. Glad we have a definitive answer.

  6. Tyler, it's not important anymore, but the photo was taken at the 2012 women's half marathon in Toronto.

  7. I think that this latest story sounds like it is most plausible. The whole take off without telling anyone, declining the offer of help (to call police)from the bus driver, the placement of the book about periling in the white mountains, all seemed like it could be staged. If she did hit someone with her car at college and took off, it would have been another failure because she would have been kicked out of school and her nursing career questionable. It sounds like she may have felt too much pressure and began drinking too much and getting in trouble. It seems statistically much more likely that a boyfriend picked her up rather than a deranged individual that just happened to be out in the snow waiting to abduct someone at that exit. What normal thinking person wouldn't ask the bus driver to call the police for help?

We don't think that is she ran way/was keeping private she'd still be using the name Maura do we?
