For Maura

I feel like I'm getting close to an answer that will lead to resolution in a matter of weeks.

I believe you are alive. And I believe I know where you went. Who you traveled with. And how you got there.

The only reason I have to find you, personally, is to show this community of concerned people that you are alive and well and they should focus on other mysteries. Frankly, I don't care about the hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money that have been spent trying to find you. I don't care about the charges you face in Mass.

I don't see any reason to invade your privacy any more that it already has been. I do not care to share your location with the family and friends you have written out of your life (for good reason).

All we ask is for proof of life. You can send it anonymously. If we can see that you are alive and well, the search can end here and the well-meaning internet armchair sleuths can move on to cases of real missing people whom they can actually help.

I truly hope you've found a better life.

  1. I hope you're right. I had an uncle, who was missing and presumed dead for 35 years. A few years ago I unraveled the mystery that he had simply walked away from his life and started a new one. Sadly, he was dead by the time I uncovered the mystery. He had children, a wife, a mother who grieved him until her death, and sisters that couldn't believe he did this. People would understand, just give them the chance to move on with their lives.

  2. If James believes Maura is alive, then I think that is enough for me.

  3. Thank God.

I hope you're right, James. And I hope Maura will answer you.

I think we all would rather see Maura's privacy preserved, if that is what she wants and needs, than have all the answers.

But we must know that she is free, alive, and well. As long as there is the slightest chance that she is not, we cannot walk away from Maura's story.

  4. That would be great news if true. Please don't pull a Rick Baker though James.

  5. James do you really have any real proof Maura was alive after the day she disappeared? If you do i think this would be enough for all of us. If this is the case and Maura dosent come forward i hope you will share this prrof, in your book or on this blog.

  6. Wow. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. (Meant in all sincerity, not with snark!)

  7. If Maura left with a new boyfriend has there been any investigation of a male going missing at the same time or anyone familiar with Mauras circle report one of their friends leaving town at the same time

    1. @aaron- if Maura did in fact drop out of her life and take up with a new partner somewhere, that partner would not necessarily have dropped out of their own lives as well. That partner could have conceivably integrated Maura into their own lives without people being aware of Maura's background. In the scheme of things, very few people have even heard of Maura murray and her story.

  8. Count me as a skeptic - not that she's alive, but that this is going to be solved in a matter of weeks.

  10. I think it is only fair to share your reasoning with us as to why you believe that she is alive. You acknowledge the community of concerned people here, you know that we, too, would like to see some resolution. So, why would you keep us in suspense as Maura has allegedly done? Why post such a strong statement without supporting that statement with less vague details? This isn't intended as a mean or sarcastic post, i just don't understand why you would post at all, unless you had confirmation to give us. When you do, it just sort of seems like you're pointing out how much more you know about it than any of us do

    1. He's giving her the chance to come out with as much dignity and respect as possible, while protecting her right to privacy.

    2. given the circumstances, does she have a "right to privacy"?

  12. some recent facts that came to light make it a little easier to follow the maura murray trail. I've suspected for a few weeks now that a resolution is at hand. I suspect this is a final warning to maura that if she wants to stay missing she really ought to make that known. While adults have a right to leave their life, people potentially facing criminal charges usually don't though at this point, unless there were other crimes committed that we aren't aware of , the likelihood of even having charges filed would be slim.

  13. James, what information have you uncovered that leads you to believe that Maura is alive? Those of us who have followed this case for years are curious. I hope that you are correct and Maura is alive, well and happy!

  14. I'd be amazed if she is still alive and is found.
Of course I do not know the who you travelled with, but you would think such a person would
Yes some people walk away from their lives but not in such bizarre circumstances and then not with relatives going all crazy in public over the investigation afterwards.
Nothing like this case where the father was trying to sue the cops and the girl fled the scene of an accident. If you do find her, good job. But will it be kept a big secret like those guys that find big foot every week on that tv show?

  15. you would think a travelling buddy would have popped up on the police radar
