***UPDATED*** Let's See What the Victim Has to Say

Here's one loose end: the woman who had her credit card number stolen by Maura Murray. I could use a little help locating her or her name. Here's what we know:

She was a student at UMass in the Spring of 2004. From Gloucester City, NJ. She worked in Salem, NH.

I would very much like to talk to her.

**UPDATE**
Upon closer review, it appears the victim was from North Andover, Mass.

  1. This may not be the place for this posting, but everyone may want to review current happenings with the McStay Family disappearance. It is now a murder as their bodies have been found(per new reports). The author of the book about them(Rick Baker), may be eating pounds of crow.
    Worth reviewing at this juncture.

    1. And, ironically, what is believed to be the remains of the Jamison Family (Okla.) have been found too.

    2. Well the sad truth is that Maura most likely died the day she disappeared or shortly thereafter. The lack of any sign of life points to that. Usually when that happends it is because the person is dead.

    3. Viktor, I completely agree with you.

    4. Holy crap, the Disappeared episode with the Jamison Family aired to day but I couldn't find any credible updates.

    1. I hope so aswell! But if you only look at the facts there is nothing that suggests she is alive. For sure she could be.

  4. I would like to think she's alive, but her story is incredibly bizarre. Her behavior, history and apparent substance abuse issues all contributed. Driving around on country backroads over 100 miles from her school while taking swigs of liquor? I just really want to know WHAT she was doing and WHERE she planned to go. It's frustrating.

    1. Turbo,

I have to agree with you. No one just ends up driving 100 miles from their "home/school/domicile", buys a good amount of booze, aimlessly treks the back roads whilst partaking in wine. All of which is after contacting area rentals, and probably having her father read her the riot act previously. There was a destination and she was close, but her drinking issues got the better of her. WHO the flip was she meeting? I can't believe it has not been ascertained by now!!?!?!?!! Unless she was meeting a spy, there must have been some form of traceable communications that local LEOs have ignored. Where was "Hoss" I would really like to know this.

As far as I can tell he is the only one to publicly voice that she wanted to disappear, out of everyone interviewed, and then he kind of called her a tramp.

I will throw out some scenarios I have pondered.
•the wreck and meeting with butch made her bolt and she kept running, and running. Who knows where, but drunk, vulnerable, pretty, coeds, don't do well hitch hiking, as I see it.
•The tandem driver picked her up and something happened. Admission of pregnancy led to murder, or perhaps she drank herself to death and tandem driver hid the body, or a plot was hatched for a new life. Who could keep that secret?
•She made it to an abortion clinic and didn't make it out. Think Kermit Gosnell.

There must be information withheld that is obscuring a clear likely path.

    2. Those are all plasuible scenarios, rcoopr. In regard her accident, it didn't seem that serious when you see pictures of the Saturn....but the airbags did deploy. Perhaps she wandered off afterward and got lost, ultimately succumbing to hypoerthermia/freezing to death? It's been know to happen, but still doesn't begin to explain what the hell she was doing there in the first place.

    3. I don't think she was pregnant. She was a nursing student taking maternal-newborn classes with pregnancy related searches on her computer.

    4. Point taken about computer searches being school related, but she could still have been pregnant and scared. That happens to many college girls. Perhaps the phone call at her place of employment was confirmation from a clinic that she was in fact pregnant? Her trip could have been an attempt to literally drink the problem away.

I am having second thoughts about the tandem driver. It is plausible and I hope the truth, but where is any evidence to even suggest it? Her quick disappearance after talking to Butch is more likely explained by her just running down the street to avoid the police and being picked up later by an unknown person.
Her conversation with Butch shows shows shows she was not sloppy drunk, so I lean towards discounting death by hypothermia in the snow.
If there is a tandem driver where is the source of communication between the two? If she had a "burner" cell phone someone must have known the number and the police could then triangulate its position and call logs. It is certainly possible that she had a phone strictly for calling people on campus, but is there any evidence for it? A charger? record of minutes purchased? accounts from anyone suggesting it existed?
If the McStay and Jamison cases show anything it is that the most likely end for this is she is dead. Perhaps Forcier is worth another look. BTK was a "good" guy also. Hope I am wrong.

    5. A call from a clinic after midnight?

    6. I still think the contractor guy who lived down the street who later claimed to have seen her running miles away is a good suspect. Two points I think are germane. The full tank of gas implies she had recently stopped and the rag in the gas tank implies it was recently put in since it would have probably been pushed out by the exhaust if she had driven far or stalled out the car. I think she was followed but not by someone she knew but by someone she encountered at the gas station. The contractor was a regular at the nearest gas station which was on Maura's route. The guy coming up with the story about the jogger a month later is suspicious to me when he lived within site of the scene and had to have been aware of the commotion and search. The claim gives him an alibi and diverts the investigation away from him and his home. His ex had some bad things to say about him which, while being typically vindicticve of exes, may also be true.

  5. Here is another story that is just coming out. Anything is possible!

That link shows a LinkedIn account for a Maura Murray in Toronto, Canada who is a manager at Curves. I don't know if this is someone playing a game with common knowledge of this case or if this is for real

  7. How come the places she googled and got directions for are "very gay friendly" girls drink wine, and girls drink White Russians.... Not too many dudes would drink the stuff she bought... Also in a couple of photos she is wearing a Bryant college shirt...is that campus on the way she travelled the day she disappeared? Did they check the car for fingerprints inside? And on the items that were found in the car....being sexually active with no emotions connections with males is a sign that she could have been trying to fit in and cover up her true love/feelings for girls or a specific girl...

    1. Bryant College is in RI north of Providence. The Patriots used to hold their summer camp there. Nowhere near the route she took and not even really on the way from Amherst to Hanson unless you took an odd route.

  8. At her weight she might not have been able to support a pregnancy.

  9. the Gloucester City NJ address is strange. Why did she have that written on the postcard as well. She also had "several numbers" she claimed to be friends phnoe numbers, which was also weird. She had a cell phone, you generally store #s in it's address book...what were these other numbers and addresses?
