Developing Story, Possible Serial Killer in Brockton

Two bodies have been discovered in the woods just west of Whitman-Hanson, where Maura Murray was from. The first body has been identified as Ashley Mylett. The second body has been there for a long time and may be little more than a skeleton. Authorities have determined it was a female.

  2. Just throwing it out there - the cops know what happened to Maura IMO. I don't know what seems off around the time the cop rolled up but something is. LE/FBI, generally all government agencies don't function for the good of the people shall we say (that's a whole new discussion on it's own). Thing is, if I am right, we will never find out. Please don't rip into me, it's just my opinion.

    1. Some posters have speculated that the investigation uncovered embarrassing or incriminating information about Maura, her family, or her friends. At this point, though, what downside could there possibly be from releasing unrelated information about the investigation now that over a decade has passed? For example, I think there is a very good chance that the police have information concerning the mechanical condition of Maura's car which could put an end to many of the questions surrounding it.

Moreover, the notion that it is acceptable for the authorities to hold back information because it might damage Maura's reputation simply does not work for me. Maura's involvement with credit card fraud and her troubles with drinking at West Point are no secret. What, exactly, could the authorities possibly release which would make her look significantly worse? Would it actually cause any material change to her reputation if we learned that she was also suspected of using drugs? I do not think so.

The picture which has been painted of Maura is one of a young woman who, while reputedly intelligent, had her share of struggles. I sincerely doubt that picture would change significantly even if we found out about additional problems in her life.

In a more concrete sense, nobody has heard from Maura since her disappearance. My opinion is that she is dead. Even if she is alive, though, she must have completely changed her identity. It is very difficult for information obtained by a criminal investigation to harm a person who, for all intents and purposes, no longer exists.

Having spent several years away from the Northern NH, I can say with certainty that other states adopt a more transparent approach to criminal investigations and law enforcement in general. Had Maura disappeared in one of those states, I think we would know a good deal more about the case.

    3. They did nothing with the car except DESTROY any evidence that may have been attainable. The car was brought to a local garage that evening, left outside and then moved to NHSP barracks in Twin Mountain NH where it was left outside, not even in an enclosed area. The car was moved 2 times while at barracks and during these moves the Saturn was damaged even more. the car was useless that evening as evidence after it was not brought to a secure location.

Also all the items found in the car were given back to the family(Kathleen) and put in a spare bedroom. This contaminates all evidence at this point. The NHSP then asked for all this stuff back at a later date. Useless as far as evidence but may possibly hold a clue.

The protocol from moment one after the call to 911 by Faith Westman was not followed correctly. Officer smith got lost on the way to the scene even though his parents house is 1 mile away. He also stated to the Murray family that He did not KNOW THE AREA THAT WELL. How long had Smith been working for the Haverhill, NH PD when this happened.? Long enough to know where THE WEATHERED BARN IS. Did he even know where the town line was..?

This case was screwed up from Minute one after the 911 call.

    4. Wow. Thanks for posting the info. What is your belief, is Maura alive or deceased?

    5. I believe that Maura is deceased. Police know who is responsible but do not have enough evidence to support an arrest conviction. The time will come that this will happen though. Soon I feel.

This is not what anyone thinks. That is all that can be said at this point.

    6. Thanks for responding. Are you able to answer....is it linked to the knife supposedly given to Fred by someone stating their relative used it?

    11. @Mr. Will Iam Incognito Thanks for the info.. Reinforces again for me that the cops are dodgy. LE didn't do that to Maura's car because they're dumb... They should be familiar with the bare basic procedures of a criminal investigation or can find out quite easily if they're not. It ticks me off that LE have not been held accountable for a joke of an investigation

    12. Interesting... Thanks John (Mr. Will) I wish you were allowed to share more here. We need more realistic theories and less hype and wishful thinking!

    1. Supposed sighting of Maura.........The witness states could have been.

I am not saying it did not happen, just rephrasing it to correctness.

    2. I'm wavering between Maura being alive or deceased. My assumption is that Fred, Sara, Kate know WHY Maura took a trip north. The hush, hush leads me to think it was something illegal (Vasi hit, illicit drug sales/use, escorting, affair with someone, etc). If Fred did indeed spend a great deal of time searching for Maura and hasn't declared her legally deceased, maybe he sincerely believes she is dead and doesn't know any details after the moment she disappeared off of the grid and refusing to declare her deceased without having her remains. Then the other side of it....if my child were missing, I wouldn't care about the circumstances before/after and would want to know the fate of my child. If she is dead, nothing she did before can legally hurt her. Makes me think that whatever it is, maybe her friends were involved as well, so the truth coming out could hurt one of them in present time. Out of all of the possibilities, the only thing (that I believe) would legally affect someone in present time, is the Vasi hit. After the evidence provided thusfar, what does everyone here think? Is Maura alive or deceased and your concise reason for your belief?

    3. As stated above, my opinion is she is dead. There have been supposed sightings, but none of them have panned out. It has been 10 years since her disappearance, and her family is still looking for her. We live in a world where, due to technology, it is increasingly difficult to hide. If the family knows she is alive but are putting on a smokescreen, they are doing a highly convincing job of it.

The fact that a body and personal effects have never been found does not mean much to me. The woods of Northern New England are an extremely difficult place to search, and it is not a given that Maura's remains are near the accident scene. It would not surprise me if a skeleton is discovered by some deer hunters a decade from now and it turns out to be her.

Second, I think Fred and her two friends know more about why she travelled North than they are letting on. Unfortunately, there is no denying that they have been tight-lipped. If I had to guess, I would say that they are concerned that further police scrutiny might reveal evidence of other crimes or an embarrassing secret of some sort.

However, just because they know why Maura travelled North, it is not therefore an absolute logical certainty that they know why she disappeared. That said, they could do a lot to clear the air by being more forthcoming.

None of the foregoing should be read to imply that I think the posters who believe she is alive are naïve, deluded, etc. To the contrary, I have a lot of respect for their opinions and enjoy reading them. Because there are so few clues, I think it is important to keep an open mind to all the possibilities, even those which sound far-fetched.

    4. Hertz Shannon, I believe 99%, that Maura is dead. Be it by suicide or a random person kidnapping her when her car broke down. I think there is a 1% chance she is alive and hiding, and her Dad knows she's alive and well and she has swore him to secrecy. But I'm sure the FBI or cops would notice if Fred was wiring Maura money.( not using Maura's real name of course). Things I don't believe are the ridiculous orgy story that some prominent business men came forward with years after she's been missing, and I don't believe the sighting at the gas station that was recently reported. I think the clerk was mistaken. Can you imagine how many girls Maura's age that clerk has rang up,smokers or non smokers? Someone commented on here and suggested at one time to try to cross reference the cigarettes that the clerk claimed that Maura supposedly bought at the gas station. That is crazy. Like that clerk is going to remember what some ransoms girls choice of cigarettes were 10 years later, and even if the clerk does, what difference would that make? There are hundreds of girls that probably smoked the same brand that Maura smoked, if she even smoked at all. I also don't believe a tandem driver theory. I think Maura was scared her life was getting out of control and was going to run away or kill herself. I don't think Fred molested her, ( I've seen that theory in the comments before). I do think Maura might have hit Vasi, but I'm not 100% on that. I don't think Maura was a confidential Informant. That is as ridiculous as the Orgy claims. I think Maura May have been mentally ill in some way, and was maybe self medicating with alcohol. Maybe she was undiagnosed Bi Polar or Manic Depressive?

      Delete
    5. YES....I believe the girls do know EXACTLY why Maura left but unsure if they know what happened to her after the fact.

On the other hand I know Fred personally and He does not know WHY Maura left or what happened to her. There is no reason for this now 70 year old man to come here to NH and trek through the forest looking for Maura every chance he gets. It makes NO SENSE. jmho

    6. Becki-- I'm with you on the improbability of the confidential informant theory. That just seems beyond far fetched. The other theory that I'm not particularly fond of is the abortion theory. Plain and simple, why would she drive to an area where there are no abortion clinics if that is what she was looking for? I always try to keep an open mind to irrational behavior, but I've never been able to understand how she wound up anywhere near Rt.112 on a February evening if an abortion was her reason for leaving Amherst.

Will Iam Incognito-- Thank you for the information on your acquaintance with Fred and your thoughts in general. I guess I just always thought it was odd that Maura did not mention anything about her trip to him the weekend before. Maybe whatever was bugging her was something she felt scared or embarrassed to tell him. Regardless, I've viewed Fred's trips up to NH--which, as a local, I have been aware of for many years--as weighty evidence against him having anything to do with the actual mechanism of her disappearance.

    8. Mr. Will I agree with you fully that "Fred is a humble man and is simply asking for respect and dignity", but to me therein lies the problem. If he didn't either know or have a very good idea of what happened to Maura, he would not give one single greenish-gray mountain beast shit about anything besides the answers.

I don't believe that he knew in advance what was going on (or, at minimum, not exactly), but I think he does now, and did pretty shortly after the disappearance.

That's just a basic matter of disagreement between us though, and I cannot emphasize enough how glad I am that you are coming correct with some objective views on the case, not least because you definitely know what you're talking about.

And to answer Hertz question, I'm more on the fence than I ever have been at this point. I'd call it 65/35 that she's dead, but I would not be remotely surprised if she was alive.

I will also say that I'm trying REALLY hard to not buy too much into the Vasi hit, but if (and it's a big IF) the sighting w/ friends in Woodsville is legit, then it's hard to fathom that many other options. It had nothing to do with "escorting", and if (IF) her friends were there I highly doubt she was up there for a dude.

Drugs are an outside maybe. Rather than something to do with sales though I think it's more likely that she went up there after a bad stretch to party, got in a wreck and got even more amped up, and then smashed thru way too much cocaine and OD'd. But in my mind I can't even close to rule out drugs, even though intuitively that doesn't make great sense to me either.

      Basically I have no clue.

    9. John Flower ... nobody is fooled. Everybody knows that you are one person with two screen names. You make it really obvious.

You know, I watched your heroin warning video and saw that you have had some challenging issues lately. You seemed like a very well intentioned and sincere person. I know you know a lot about the case. I only make fun of you because you are making such an effort to be a jerk here. Even if you have issues with Renner, couldn't you talk about the case substantively sometimes? I mean, with the group here (with a couple of minor exceptions of people who don't post that much), the group here would embrace your views even if they disagree with them.

You've stated this point a few times. This poster has been posting info under this titled section as asked. Can we just let it be at that, unless situation warrants different in the future?
