    3. That's possible, @Nobody NotMe, but it's also possible that Brian was only able to get a partial name for this lake in his dream.

  3. Another interesting tidbit is on the sketch that Brian did ( can't find anymore) , he had an address and the words Campton NH and that address is the road the police dept is on. The police dept (badge) is the only bld there till it turns into dirt road and there is a house maybe two is all from what I remember.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Correction: The address was for Thorton Police dept on merrill access road. Brian has that written on his notes.

  6. There's a tiny lake near Mt. Lafayette and Franconia called Eagles Lake. Found that interesting as the one physic mentioned a man possibly a police officer and an eagle symbol.

  7. jab above mentioned Lake Tarleton. This is correct, it is nearby, and should be looked into.

Regarding the name “Ben” touched on by both psychics:

Route 116 also called “Benton Rd" runs straight through Haverhill. This road connects directly to Route 112. The border of the town “Benton” is extremely close to where her car was found in Haverhill. Both towns border each other in Grafton County. In fact, to get to Franconia, one would take Route 116 or “Benton Rd" through Benton.

They are so close in fact, that I opened up Google Earth to check the area while listening to this podcast, and that is when I saw the town Benton. I zoomed in slightly, and randomly street viewed the first cluster of residential area near Benton. It was the Weathered Barn in Haverhill. How crazy of a coincidence is that. In the event that either of these psychics have a gift, then offenders in the Benton area should be looked at.

Another thing that makes total sense is her accepting help if a woman was present in the car.

  9. For some reason the Melissa jenkins murder came to mind when she said it could have possibly been a man & woman who picked her up....don't know why.....strange

  11. Hi, so the psychic said there was something involving a man and woman in a car that maybe picked her up. She said to look into the possibility that there was a woman.

Regarding the man who came forward after Maura disappeared and turned over a knife, Wikipedia states he claimed that "His brother and his brother's girlfriend were said to have acted strangely after Maura's disappearance."

So there's the only couple that have ever been connected to the case in any way. What happened with them? Dead end?

Not that I even believe in psychics. Just a thought.

    1. I agree that perhaps a little more research needs to done regarding a woman being involved, Maura was not stupid...I don't think she would gotten into a car/truck on her own free will with just a single male or two men. Having a woman present likely would have put her at ease to do so if she needed help.

  12. May we have a transcript of this podcast?
There was a lot of external noise, such as papers being flipped through, and the interviewer spoke very softly, At times, the psychic was difficult to hear.

    Thank you.

  16. Were either wives of BA or RF heavy set?? After all BA did fail his lie detector test. And RF made some strange commemt to the police about joking with his wife, he had MM in the basement???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This is the way I look in this case. Supposedly BA was ruled out, but RF saw MM (supposedly running along the roadway several miles east of the crash site on the night of Feb 9) coupled with his strange comments, and the fact that that the tracking dogs lost scent at the spot of RF's former property.

  17. I truly believe MM has passed, and probably murdered not long after her disappearance. I've listened to every podcast and have been following this story from Canada for some time now. I honestly think that BA took a very dark secret to his grave. 9 times out of 10 its the last person who had contact which is guilty, and he failed his lie detector test once and if I recall correctly he took another that came back inconclusive?? He is gone now, Maura may never be found, that is just reality....Mr. Murray if you are reading this.....I hope you have had some sense to be able to move forward, life will not stop for anyone...live it to the fulliest YOU can....and remember Maura how you choose. Peace sir.

    1. Bingo! It baffles me that so many people feel that psychics are legit. I've extensively studied cold reading, and all the tactics are the same, and so obvious to those who understand what it is. It's actually quite easy to replicate if you practice. Also, they're essentially giving information to the "psychic", as does almost everyone who goes and sees one. There is ZERO proof that psychics are legit- and there's been so many scientific studies done. They can never be replicated. Of course once in awhile someone will get a good "hit"--but that's just coincidence, and would happen to everyone over time. They get SO good at it the longer they do it. Interviews with retired psychics who admit they weren't psychics are always good reads. They talk about how they are able to pick things up from simple things like clothes, jewelry, etc. Houdini left the ultimate test- before he died he gave his wife a code word, and said he would communicate it to her after he died via psychic. If the psychic got it right, it was proof they were real. She went to hundreds of world renowned mediums...and I'm sure you can guess how many of them gave her the word from beyond the grave... ;-)

    2. The problem was that they kept offering up detailed information that she wasn't even asking them for. I think they have never watched one of those shows where psychics try to solve crimes. You aren't supposed to give them any information at all.

  21. I do believe in psychics but I also believe there alot of phonies out there so u have to be very careful. It seemed they were discussing the case more than anything. To me, too many questions were being asked by them.
They asked do you think she's alive? Lori said I don't feel a heartbeat. But later she's says I see her being alive, but someone has her, its dead in there. Lori also says I see her here but not here. Then at the end she says someone picked her up, that's all I can see.
Is that all they can see because hasnt passed away?
Lori said she saw a man with a beard, and a bigger woman. Kathleen maybe? Did Tim have a beard at the time of Maura's disappearance.
I could possibly be thinking of something else but I thought shortly after Maura disappeared, a man or woman( can't remember which) believe they were husband and wife called in an anonymous tip saying they saw a woman walking down the road, when asked for there name, they hung up. I could be wrong but thought I'd mention it.
A guy named Tom posted that about a year after Maura disappeared he found a black bookbag that was empty, and frozen solid behind the Pemigewasset overlook. He told an officer but didn't know if anything came of this. Another blogger said he was going to go look. He came back and said holy crap there's really a black bookbag there. He called the police and told them. The next day he went back and it was gone. The cold case unit had retrieved it. They didn't know if it was an internet hoax or if it really belong to Maura.
I'm not from the area but I looked it up and it looks like the Pemigewasset Overlook is near Franconia Notch. Could this be where Maura ditched some of her things or is her body in the area?
I would look into seeing if there was any Ben's in the area and if so what type of vehicle did they have in 2004? If she was harmed maybe a guy named Ben did it, maybe Maura was secretly seeing a guy named Ben, or maybe there is no Ben.
I do find it interesting that Lori asked if they checked everything on Mauras computer. Fred wanted the computer back after the police retrieved it. Could there be something on Mauras computer?
When James went and saw a tarot reader. She said there's a lot of darkness around this case. She wasn't traveling alone, she wanted to be lost and not be found. Also that he's traveled but a lot more traveling to do. Did she say where to travel to?
She can't see her she's either dead or darkness covers her. Lori can't see her, and the tarot reader can't see her. Is it because she's alive and not dead? You can't read a spirit if there still alive.
They told Lori that Mauras mother had passed away, shouldn't she of been able to pick up on her being gone.
Another thing is they told Lori that Maura's parents were in the middle of a divorce at the time of her disappearance. I thought they hadn't been together in a long time. Did they just never get divorced until around that time?
If something bad did happen to Maura, then her family/ friends aren't doing her any justice by hiding facts, not speaking out on what they know, no longer searching and haven't for years, not releasing more photos from around the time of her disappearance , Fred never mentioning the Butsons sighting, and everything else they have hidden or not spike about. In order to rule things relative to Mauras disappearance or not relative To it, then facts and truths should be told.

  23. Perhaps the "Ben" is Benjaman Kyle. Maura went missing in early 2004 and Benjaman was found mid-2004. Just a thought, though likely unrelated.

  24. This was an interesting episode. I am kind of mixed what to think about psychics and crime. I do think that this psychic was very open ended, seemed to be guessing a lot and Lance and Time (doc guys names?) were unwittingly pushing her in the direction to keep her reading up. The names, colors, etc. were very generic (Katherine/Kathleen are common names) and she would expound on details when they reacted positively. But interesting to listen to.

  27. Psychics should not be part of the documentary. Their inclusion in a documentary purportedly about logic and facts is very off-putting.

    1. If the police use them, for any lead, why not? I recall someone being looked for in Florida led to a serial killer, I don't see the harm in all avenues.

    2. So you can vaguely recall one single, solitary case in which a psychic may have provided helpful info?

There's no such thing as psychic powers, and law enforcement agencies absolutely should not humour these delusions. It's 2015 for goodness' sake.

    3. Nancy Weber a psychic led police to the crime scenes as well as the abducted sites, named the serial killer. I concur there are very few psychics who will come forth, ( would you point the killer out without proof jeapordizing your family). 2015...indeed, then the police should've used all investigative procedures, they didn't even look at cell phone records, they need to get with the times.

    4. @ Goldfish. Do some reading on the topic. There are many documented cases of psychics successfully helping police.

      Delete
  28. To me, it was very obvious that the psychics were using cold reading techniques. A transcript of the episode would definitely help.

They were very charming, and were subtly coaxing information from the interviewers. It's especially evident when a name thrown out didn't score and immediate hit and the psychic and interviewers worked together to fit the miss.

I'll have to listen again and get specific instances.

  30. shame on you James, and anybody who believes a psychic can shed any light here. Psychics are bogus. This is indeed a mystery, but buying into junk superstition isn't the way to find answers.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't believe all psychics are bogus, I've seen some weird stuff in my life. If you just believe in straight forward facts, nothing else, your closed minded and this is as far as you will get in this case. Like I said earlier Nancy Weber help capture a serial killer, even named him, the captain like you doubted her, but without her, he would still be killing.

    2. Any person who correctly names an Offender, as part of some "psychic" vision, should be detained and questioned as an accessory

If psychic powers are real, why has nobody ever won the Randi $1m challenge?

It's harmful fraud. Why believe in facts? Because facts are truth. They are measurable, unbiased, verifiable knowledge that can be used to further the development of humankind. Facts are real. Psychics, ghosts, and faith healers are not. The continued existence of these frauds collectively harms all of us, by slowing progress, and by keeping us mired in aa stagnant mediaeval swamp of superstition.

    3. I agree, however the police went to Weber she has "helped" close cases, the killers name thou that blew my mind.

    4. Bruno didn't want money, so no ones buying into anything. What's the harm, it takes a few minutes to follow up leads, which usually leads people into a new area of thinking.

  31. Why not try every option at this point, even psychics? I love this blog and the podcasts but I think there was way too much information given to this lady. You can answer questions without going into a 2 minute information puke.

    1. @Anon 10:12 They did see psychics, even Fred did so yes it should be art of the case. Sometimes psychics like to add a bit of drama, however I think some have more heightened senses.

      Delete
  32. I am someone that believes that there are people that have extra-sensory or paranormal abilities, but this fraud is certainly not one of them! She is AWFUL! Lance needed a hook. Why not just hand her a script to read from? Of ALLLLLL the names to give her, why not "Petrit Vasi"???? That would have told you inside of five seconds whether this "psychic" was legit or not.

Nevertheless, I am enjoying the podcasts. THANK YOU for changing the opening of the podcast. I actually had to fast-forward the first three minutes of every episode because I would get douche chills every time they would say her birth date and weight layered over that music.

I also believe he knew she was headed up north but is stunned to why she never arrived. Did you ever check out the town the lady mentions? Weird both psychics say they feel she is alive but dead.
