$1,000 Reward

$1,000 Reward for proof that Maura Murray is alive and well. No questions asked. Anonymity guaranteed.

This would have to be a photograph, video, or legal document of some kind.

If you can provide this information, I will post that the search is over and immediately delete everything else on this blog. Documents, interviews, everything except that post.

I will not reveal her location. You don't even need to reveal it, just that she is alive and well.

* This offer is only good for the first person who contacts me with proof.

* If you are a member of Maura's direct family or inner circle of friends, and you can verify your identity, I will accept a detailed explanation of what happened in Haverhill and why she disappeared, absent of photographic evidence.

You can reach me at jameswrenner@gmail.com

    1. Why is it ridiculous? I too tend to not believe that she ran off to a new life and that she is dead. But, it is not ridiculous to hold a different opinion. Moreover, among you, me and practically everyone else in the world, only a few, maybe none, know more about his case than James. Thus, so cavalierly dismissing his ideas is ... odd. The language reminds of that Simpson's flashback episode to Homer and Marge's HS courtship, when Homer joins the debate team to impress her and his first resolution is con that the national speed limit should be lowered to 55. He creates one index card in preparation for the debate. It says "NO WAY!"

    1. I truly think no one knows where she is. If they did, there wouldn't be a facebook search page that also mentions other missing persons.

Factual Scenario: Girl likely under distress is driving along a road at night in a winter month. She has an address with a possible destination on it. At some point in her vehicular travel she has an accident. At some point a rag gets placed in her tailpipe. She VERY quickly disappears.

Yes, if the people merely noticed her car and a person in it, they would've likely seen if someone hit her. So I THiNK we can rule out a coverup of that nature.

To date, 10 years later, there is no official death legal notice issued.

It DOES kind of point to a runaway. But why wouldn't extended family members know that?

    2. There is NO WAY Fred Murray knows Maura is alive and has been putting on a very complicated ruse for 11 1/2 years. I know this Man personally and have been with him on searches, meetings and even out to dinner after long days of looking for clues. Not a chance that he would have done everything he has only to shed light upon Maura, himself and the case. Fred would have just stopped years ago and made an occasional comment. I just don't see it happening.

Kate and Sarah on the other hand is a totally different scenario. They need to be waterboarded and forced to give up The TRUTH.

    4. I have always from the beginning thought Fred Murray is a very genuine person. He is a hands on man on a mission. He does not like to waste time or resources on fruitless endeavors. Like I have stated before Fred Murray is a distraught father looking for his daughter Maura and will do whatever it takes to accomplish that. He does not beat around the bush, he goes into the bush and tries to flush out the truth.

    4. 1 OF 2: Others know the details around this better than I do. Feel free to correct or add to or dispute my take if I get some details wrong. It was said years ago on a Geocities post. There had been an email that started with "Maura is not dead" and went on to state that Maura had moved to Canada and was living a happy life. Someone on Goecities commented that the facts stated in the email had long been known among the family. That person used the handle Citigirl. Somewhere along the line, someone said the email had a "ring of truth." For various reasons, James and others came to believe that Citigirl was either [1] Maura's first cousin, Patty Davidson (nee Curran), or [2] her first cousin once removed; i.e., that person's daughter, also names Patty, or possibly [3] her first cousin twice removed; i.e., that person's granddaughter, who if she exists (it was hard to pin this down) is about Maura's age. (That might seem surprising, but Fred had 7 siblings, very spread out in age and it is possible that Maura's cousin has a granddaughter that is about Maura's age.) Incidentally, the Patty Davidson who appeared on CNN and was introduced as Maura's cousin was most likely the first woman. James did some tracking and had a source that said Patty Davidson was the citigirl in question, a frequent poster on Topix. I and others have questioned this information, but citigirl her/himself certainly courted the impression at times. (There is a post on this blog about that effort to trace citigirl's identity and the "ring of truth" email.)

      Delete
    5. 2 OF 2: After James's probing, he sometimes interacted with citigril on topix, asking her for an interview. Citigirl would at times outright claim to be a member of the family that participated in the searches, going so far as to once refer to an old brown coat that she was wearing when they started, which I have been told is the color of a coat that Patty can be seen wearing in a news clip at the scene. But at other times citigirl vigorously denied she was a family member or that she had said so. When I subbing for James in administering this blog in the summer of 2013, I tracked down a post by a "citigril" on a different forum, on which you were able to get header information. The tower where that transmission entered space (although not the specific transmitter's address) can easily be learned from header information. That tower was in the vicinity of the current address of one of the first and (if she exists) third person mentioned above. However, it could have been a different person in that vicinity and it is not impossible that more than one person posts/registers in various forums with the name citigirl. Also, others of Maura's relatives live in that immediate vicinity, so it could be another relative of Maura's is the person who is about her age who may have been the origin of that particular citigirl post that I traced. There is one person in particular I have in mind. The concept of a young relative of Maura's pretending online to be another relative of Maura's who was involved in the case is not too far fetched. In any case, some time thereafter the now discredited (at least in my eyes and those of others I have talked to) Joe Anderson (posting as Sam Ledyard) did a large amount of research and analysis about the Geocities post. His reasoning did not make sense and he did not answer my and others' specific questions about it, but he purported to have proved that the person who originated either the email or the Geocities post was someone named Kelly White, who lives in the vicinity of South Shore Boston. His stated goal was to debunk the "living in Canada" theory by proving that no family member had anything to do with the Geocities "ring of truth" email or comment. This could be a valid conclusion, despite my view that Joe's informations generally should not be trusted. In this case, I don't know. Moreover, I dont know that Joe's motives were not mixed. He may have at times simply been interested and wanted to lend thought to the discussion. This may have been one of those times. But I do know that Joe's reasoning did not make sense and I never saw that he clarified it anywhere. At one point, a search Maura's cell phone number related it to a "Kelly White" living in Massachusetts, but I am almost sure that that was a red herring. This because Joe is known technophile who spends A LOT of time on the computer, according to several I know who know him well. Some have alleged, for instance, that he was pomkik and I have seen pretty good, if not airtight proof of that. If true, Joe could easily have pushed out the data to trace his Kelly White to Maura and - in my view - Joe likes to do that sort of thing.

  24. This offer is either naive or disingenuous. I don't know which. Personally, I don't think it's a likely scenario, but it's certainly a possibility that MM was abducted, If she were abducted, and is still alive, how could anyone know from a "photo, video or legal document" that she was genuinely speaking freely and of her own volition? Remember Colleen Stan, "the girl in a box"? After her abduction, she worked outside her kidnappers' home, and she even visited her family alone and then returned to her confinement.

    1. Hi Lovecraftian. I am not sure why you would say that James' offer is "either naïve or disingenuous" based on it being not a "likely scenario ... but certainly a possibility" that she was abducted. While your subsequent reasoning follows (i.e., if she were abducted, it is unlikely such proof would surface), it follows only from the possibility that she was abducted. If she was not the reasoning does not follow. And therefore, in my view the offer - on your terms - is neither naïve nor disingenuous. A bit disingenuous seeming to so say?

  28. IMO, Maura did have a Plan, now what the plan was I don't know but I have several theories on it.
    1. She planned to runaway and start a new life. She was riding in tadem with someone, they staged the accident, and Maura left to start new somewhere . I think she might have thought about leaving for a while, but I think something Major happened and she felt she had to leave.
    2. Maura was planning on leaving but she wasnt sure for how long. The accident was just an Accident. She was riding in tandem , that person turned back to get her, and at that point she decided she couldn't come back.
If she stayed at scene she possibly could of gotten a DUI and by leaving the scene, she could of got leaving the scene of an accident ticket. Which could of affected her credit card case.
    3. It wasn't Maura at the Saturn, it was someone else driving while she was on her way to an unknown destination.
    4. I think if Maura met with foul play it was by someone she knew. Either in Amherst and someone was covering there tracks or something happened between her and the person(s) she was travelling with.

  29. Does anyone know who the phone call was from AFTER her sister called??

    >There also is the mysterious phone call Murray received while working as a security person at a residence hall at the UMass Amherst campus Feb. 5.

The call reportedly reduced Murray to tears and her supervisor had to take her home because she was so distraught.

UMass Detective Davies said his department has been able to track the phone call.

"We know the location," Davies said. "We have not been able to identify to whom she was speaking. Her friends have no idea who called her."

    1. I once thought a lot about this. I think there has been confusion, starting with UMASS police. I feel that the UMASS police likely talked to Karen, Maura's supervisor, and thus came to believe that a call on her cell was behind Maura's upset. If you read Karen's statement here, you can see why. She said that Maura pointed at her phone on the desk and muttered "my sister" as her only words while upset and otherwise unable to talk. Thus, UMASS police looked at her call log, which presumably Ms. Rausch immediately gave them, and concluded that the last call - with Kathleen - was the source of the upset. But that call had occurred 2 hours before Maura got upset. In fact, I think the haloed girl image that Maura lived inside of was trying her best against the upset to keep up appearance and explain the rule violation (not allowed to talk on cells while on duty), or trying to diminish it ... "oh I was talking to my sister." I think the 2 hour gap suggests this. I feel that the upset that took Maura that night either (1) walked in the front door in the form of someone she knew delivering some information, or (2) came via the desk phone.

  31. Someone who truly wants to start over (and means business!) would probably leave their car abandoned in a remote alleyway & catch a flight from the nearest airport to some predetermined unknown city.....a city with NO family connections. Going to a family vacation spot would probably be a bad idea. That said, who knows what really happened? This family deserves some peace for sure.

  32. One thing I will say is I had a friend in elem and middle school whose father was controlling and abusive. She, her mom, and her brother let midway through 7th grade and none of their old friends knows where they are. Complete name change and new identities we all reckon. There was SOME talk that at one point they were in Louisiana but I'm not even sure if that's legit.

So it happens and it probably happens more than one would think.

The reason I don't think that happened here is because her family does still wonder where she is and they help maintain a public page. All families have problems but that's a bit much. Wasn't Billy WITH her family in New England right after? College friends would move on.

I think her disappearance is probably wrapped in some nefarious shit.

  33. What if someone sent a photo in of someone that could pass for maura but is not her just to claim the reward money. Let's face it , after twelve years people change a lot in appearance and she may have gained weight too. How is James ever going to know the photo is genuine.

  34. My gut instinct says she died. Maybe she was picked up further down the road by either someone she was driving in tandem with or a stranger (under the influence of alcohol and cold conditions she said yes to someone she shouldn't). I would love to see a map of a 10 mile radius of the site of the car and who owns what land. The process of elimination will start to narrow down the options.

  35. What makes people think the family/friends are fearful? Usually people don't talk about things related to legal cases so as not to clutter the conversation with speculation. It is why juries are told to disregard any press related stories when deciding a verdict.

I don't think anyone's FEARFUL of any one person. If anything, they might be worried she WAS nabbed by some random psycho and are desperately trying to remain mentally involved so as not to forget Maura but on the DL so as not to provoke crazy fucks.

This is a HUGE reason I am against Renner's blog. He has no right to discuss a person's life the way he does, or speculate about her and her relationships.

I feel like I know how she laughs, talks, etc., but I can't figure out how. I wish I could recall why she is so familiar to me (Even if it is just remembering that she reminds me of a particular person I do know). It's almost eerie to me. I am not from Canada nor do I visit a lot, so I know this is just some crazy unexplained feeling, but it's been driving me nuts. Your dedication to figuring out this case is inspiring. I think that one thing everyone can agree on based on the trollers and all the anonymous threats is that someone really doesn't want you figuring this out. Hopefully you can outsmart them and figure out what happened to Maura!

  38. So, citigirl is not Martha? I just read something that reports, "both airbags were deployed in the Saturn". Usually this means that two people, a driver and a passenger were in the accident-2 people. Or the passenger air bag would not deploy. I have actually totalled a car and had my airbag deploy, there is no way my head came anywhere near the windshield, steering wheel, anything...I did have my seat belt on. The air bag did not break the windshield nor blow to that level that it could do that. And the passenger side airbag did not deploy. I was going 75 or so on the highway, hit uneven tread and somehow lost control of my vehicle, hit the guardrail head on and did a full 360 and ended up facing the right way on the highway, with 2 blown tires on the right side, windshield fully intact. I walked away unharmed. I am highly doubtful Maura's accident was this traumatic, so confused by the results on her car.
