A new look at one of the North Country's Coldest Cases
The Sat. Before Maura disappeared, she had called Reliance Auto. In 04, was Reliance Auto a salvage yard?
This was very informative. James, I learned a few new things about the case. It's getting me even more excited for the book!
So you know Conrad, the former officer in NH who follows the facebook page and swears NH precinct knows who killed Maura? I randomly think about him. I know he has a bit of a past himself, but why would he say that publicly if he didn't have knowledge of its veracity?I think the fact that he mentioned how lawyers care deeply about their success rate in court makes me not discount him because that is very true.
I received a PM from someone who lives in the NH area who said that this guy Conrad was gunned down because of what he said regarding the police. I am not making any claims as to the veracity of why he was killed but I didn't know this murder had taken place.
Wrong Conrad. There's the ex-cop and the alleged pedophile. It was the pedo killed in front of his mother's house. I say "alleged" because, yes, it's never been absolutely proven as to why he was shot. As for the ex-cop's claims, there may be an agenda there BUT it's, um, interesting that the NH AG's office claims ( per the "MMM Podcast" ) it's never even HEARD of the ex-cop's story that "MM was buried near the scene in someone's foundation they were pouring in Feb 2004." That's nonsense. Not because it's impossible to pour concrete in the winter, though not advisable, it's because the event leading to his dismissal was BIG news involving him setting up the police to take him out in a suicide scene, aka "death by cop". After the smoke cleared and got his head back is when he took to FB and made the above claim.
Thank you for your clarification. But why was the pedophile killed? Are you saying that he wanted to be murdered? I thought it was a mystery as to who killed him. Are you saying the police did it? For what reason? Retaliation?

Good interviews with both you & John, I thought. It was weird when the host said when the case is solved he wouldn't be surprised if one of you were involved. I know he meant involved in the solution, not her disappearance, but it made me chuckle. :)
Got it finally! Very good......
Ohhh, James. This was really good, but I can't help but chime in with a segment offfff...Know Ur Famous Suicides!!!1 (Lady Author Edition)Virginia Woolf = pockets rock-loaded for river death march Sylvia Plath = room sealed, head in oven, gas on (carbon monoxide)...ok, enough of a digression here. I thought your calling attention back to the early (some "official," some not) MM message boards as the original sources of some of the most compelling rumors surrounding the case was important. It's interesting that the red truck was also mentioned back then, and it turned out that there was at least some substance to that. R.O. is a real person, she did report seeing a red truck that night - so it lends credence that there might be bits of truth in the core elements of some of those other posts (even if some of the details may be embellished).- Marie Helena
Thanks for correcting this, Marie - I actually yelled out loud, by myself in my kitchen - 'THAT'S not Plath, it's Woolf!'
And how much do you want to bet that when they do release the ATM tape there will not be a blessed thing about it that should have prevented it from being given to the public years ago?
