Phone Records Suggest Bill Rausch Knew Maura Left UMass on the 9th

I must have looked through Bill and Maura's cell phone bills a hundred times but yesterday a Redditor noticed something I never saw. Here's what "Ashthered" had to say:
After having a look at Bills phone records, I noticed something which seems strange to me, although I'm not sure if what I have noticed is accurate and so would appreciate it if someone with more knowledge could correct me if I'm wrong, sorry if this gets confusing but bare with me...
On Feb 8th at 2:49pm Bill makes a 2 min call to Maura which I presume was him leaving Maura a message as her phone was off at the time, then 1 minute later he calls another Amherst number 413-546-????, i am presuming this is Maura's dorm room (could be wrong but makes sense).
Then on the same day at 4:47 and 5:45 he calls Mauras mobile again which both go unanswered and then his next call is to that same number again which surely is Maura's dorm. It would make sense to try Maura's mobile, if she doesn't answer, then try her dorm.
So if I am correct then Bill on the day before Maura disappears, twice tries to contact her at her dorm after she has failed to answer her mobile.
Then on the Feb 9th, after Maura's last ever call to Bill at 2:18pm, where they don't actually talk but Maura may have left a short message, Bill calls Maura another 8 times before around 5pm on the 10th which would roughly be when Bill was told she was missing, and not once does he try her on her dorm phone, this surely suggests that he must know she is not at Umass, otherwise surely he would have tried her dorm phone again, just like he did on the 8th, twice.
Maybe I have got this wrong and if so I will be very grateful if somebody could correct me, but if not then I'm sure this looks like Bill knew she was going somewhere, before everyone else did?
Bill doesn't like to be ignored. On Feb 8th and 9th, he's calling Maura's cell phone and dorm, trying to get her to talk to him. When he can't reach her, he calls Kate Markopoulos on her cell phone and also Kate's dorm room. But Maura doesn't want to talk and sends him an email text saying so. That doesn't work for him though so he calls Maura's cell again three times in three minutes. But she doesn't pick up.

By all accounts, Bill is acting manic on February 9, as Maura is ignoring him.  He makes a total of 52 calls that day from his cell phone while he's in the field at Fort Sill and after. Calls to ex-girlfriends, mentors from West Point, and family. He's reaching out.

Later that night, he tries to get Maura to talk to him again. But he doesn't try her dorm again. When he can't reach her in the morning, does he try her dorm room? Nope. It's a break in character for him - when she didn't answer on Sunday, he's trying her cell, her dorm, her friend's dorm, and her friend's cell phone. But on Tuesday, he doesn't try Maura on her dorm, even though by all accounts he doesn't learn that she's missing from UMass until around 5 p.m. that evening, when the Murray family calls him.

In fact, after the Murrays call him to say Maura's missing, he doesn't call her cell phone either. He doesn't try to call her, even though she's missing, for two hours. His first thought isn't to immediately try to get his girlfriend to pick up but to call the operator, inquiring about hotels in New Hampshire.

This makes no sense to me. Does it make any sense to you?

In light of allegations against Bill Rausch by multiple women of sex assault and harassment in D.C., I think everyone close to the investigation should sit down and go over timelines of the days following Maura's disappearance.

***UPDATE***
Another Redditor noticed that after Bill learns Maura's missing, he calls Kate Markopoulos' dorm for 6 minutes.

  1. If you're going where I think you're going, then wouldn't Bill's and Maura's cell records show them in the same area around the time of her disappearance? Bill has always had a strong alibi. He was not in the area during the time Maura went missing. So if that's not where you're going, then perhaps you're suggesting Bill knows more than he's saying? But what could that be?

    1. Bill was almost certainly at Fort Sill when Maura disappeared. I'm much more interested in where he was for the week following the disappearance.

    2. And who told him Maura was going on a trip.

    3. You're not thinking that he's responsible for her disappearing on the 9th. You're thinking he's responsible for what happened once he tracked her down to wherever she'd gone to get away for a bit.

    4. No, I think he’s theorizing that Bill at least knew she wasn’t at UMass and that he may have know where she was headed.

    5. If this connects Bill to what we think happened with Maura at the party, then that definitely starts to paint a picture.

  2. I believe he knew where she was going, and probably meeting up with a guy there. I believe he learned this information then he spoke to Kate on Monday 02/09.

  3. I always seem to be the fly in the ointment..... I cant shake the feeling BR played a huge part coordinating M getting outta Amherst. I keep going back to the mental breakdown/incident at Melville. M got some bad bad news that may have put a plan in motion. Its tough to synchronize a game plan from states apart, under the radar, without leaving a trail, especially if the person running is in danger. If so, they sure pulled it off ~ 14yrs later & not a clue other than phone records with a page or so missing...

  4. James, you have a point, however, I can see BR not bothering to try to contact her again as she hadn't been trying to connect at that point.

Therefore, precious time best spent trying to stake out possible places at which she may have stopped.

  5. Let's put it this way, Bill is definitely guilty of shady behavior. That should be enough probable cause to at least have police really looking at him as a prime suspect. Sadly, because there is no dead body, it still is a stretch to think Maura was killed. This elusive story is so spun at this point, that I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Maura was abducted by aliens or was a government experiment for time travel.

  6. Has anyone studied Bill's phone records for the 4 to 5 days previous to Maura going missing? Something happened between the two of them and then the call from her sister was the topping on the cake. She needed a time out which is understandable. Bill either figured out or found out where she was headed and with whom and then the mystery begins. IMHO, Someone from UMass knows more than they're letting on.

  7. This is all very interesting....assuming the other calls where to Maura's Dorm - which at this stage you're guessing. Correct James?

  8. Say, as speculation, that a 'friend' of Maura told BR where and when she was headed on her 'time out', and say then that it appears that Maura was either intercepted on her way, or reached her intended destination and then disappeared, you can then see how that 'friend' might fear that her giving away of Maura's secrets might have directly resulted in her death during the time BR was in state 'looking for her' (which would, of course, mean we should be looking at an entirely different time line, with the accident being entirely irrelevant to what happened to her), which would result in that 'friend' subsequently clamming up during the investigation.

  9. BR's phone records smell like a guy who had a game plan but the wheels started to come off... like maybe M went rogue. Lotsa calls ~ a little desperate & losing control. Always thought it was more than interesting that CSmith, the officer driving 001 or 002, running around like a chicken w/his head cut off, some question where he was & was supposed to be that nite, reports of officers arguing over jurisdiction, was also a former Army Intelligence officer. idk but if I was frantic to find someone & had an idea where they were headed - id rack my brain to see who I know in the area & would call in a favor. It was also stated that it was CS, who very early on, blurted out the comment about M could be upset because of the way her bf treated her - how'd he know that?

Didn't a couple police officers say something like that? I could have sworn I remember Mr. Renner saying he spoke to an investigator who was retired from the case and he too mentioned something about the boyfriend being the likely catalyst for her departure. As for CS saying that early on, I would assume within the first couple days they would have gotten an impression from her friends and or family if there was something not too great about their relationship status. Then there was the email she left behind at Umass printed out (on top of a box was it?) which referenced cheating. That must have been found as soon as Umass police entered her dorm, which would have been shortly after it was realized it was Maura who was missing. It doesn't seem like anyone was too impressed with the boyfriend.

  10. Does seem really weird that he would stop trying her dorm room before he knew she was in fact missing. There was a never a way to pinpoint his location in the week following the accident when he didnt make any calls for 5 days? Or did he completely turn his phone off so that it wouldnt ping on any cell towers? That in itself seems so suspicious. Your girlfriend is missing and for 5 days you dont call anybody. Just seems like he was up to something.

  11. I don't know-- I always thought he knew something and should have been looked at more closely even with the alibi. This confirms it. I also am not convinced at all that her sister's call upset her-- it had to involve her more directly.

  12. Calling Kate isn't weird. I think most of us if not all believe her college friends know much more than they let on.

But it is definitely telling that he only calls her cell after she left. Someone either told him something, or let something slip. ORRRRR Maura told him something VAGUE.

  13. Yes Cs told renner that her coming up there was because bill was terrible.

Poll: do you all suppose Fred might now believe bill is a potential suspect?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Fred stated that Bill's mom was a big help and also that he was sure that Bill and Maura would have married. Doesn't sound like he suspects him-- but, her friends and sisters would hear more about it. Kathleen seemed catatonic for some reason.

  15. I’m sure someone has said it but it just dawned on me. If all Maura had(supposedly) was the $280 she took out the atm, how in the world was she going to pay for a cabin or hotel room? Just more evidence to suggest she was with someone or meeting someone. She was doing all those searches for lodging and as far as we know only had $280...well that can be confirmed. She wasn’t driving up there to sleep in her car. Anyway, just a thought

    1. Toria, that is a good point, though I have to point out that it has been mentioned that MM possibly stopped looking for lodging without booking anything because she decided to stay at the cabin that she visited with her cross-country boyfriend. As I recall, the key to that cabin was left on site, and that time of year would have been vacant. Of course this is just another theory, but is one that would account for her lack of funds.

  16. Yeah, he calls Kate almost right away and he calls Kate and Sara numerous times throughout the days before during and after as he seemed not only possessive of MM and who and where she spent her time with/doing, but also he called them after the fact I am thinking trying to pressure or intimidate them into giving up any info since he knew she gave him the cold shoulder right before departing.
